Things to do around Yokosuka - Top 5 websites

The Internet is an amazing thing but sometimes it’s hard to sift through and find what you really want. Here are my top six websites (outside of this one of course!) for those living in the area and wondering what things to do around Yokosuka.

Step 1: Stay Local

Just recently, I found Koko wa Yokosuka, or as they call it in English, “Yokosuka Travel Guide” (you’d think I’d have found like that ages ago) which is literally all things Yokosuka.  There are events, stuff to do in each region, hiking trails, as well as a pretty extensive list of restaurants.  The site is in both Japanese and English, so search to your heart’s content! They were also the background for finding the Dollar City Yokosuka information.

Step 2: Broaden your radius

If you’re on a budget, Tokyo Cheapo is the place to check out. They do have a section specifically on Yokosuka but cover all of the Tokyo Metropolitan area as well.

Savvy Tokyo is more geared towards having women in mind but also gives a lot of options for places to go and reviews of things to do.  They also have coupons available to various establishments.

Probably the most comprehensive of all is Time Out Tokyo. Not just things to do in general but specifically festivals and what have you, going on during the weekends. Hint: There is ALWAYS something going on at Yoyogi park, near Harajuku station, if you if you want to know what before making the trek, head to this website to find out.

Step 3: Get out of dodge

If you just aren’t feeling the local scene, the Japanese National Tourism Organization has you covered with itineraries to follow, places to see and cultural tidbits to be aware of. Hot springs, national parks, art, crafts, culture, it’s got it all for the entire country.
